There is a Yakisoba Boom on in the city!
There have been many Yakisoba shops in Fujinomiya for a long time. Some
people are keeping a close eye on the special texture and taste of Fujinomiya
Yakisoba to stimulate the city’s economy. They belong to the Fujinomiya
Yakisoba Association (President, Hidehiko, Watanabe).
In general, yakisoba noodles are just steamed and boiled. Our noodles are
a bit different from regular ones. After being steamed, our noodles are
forced to be cooled and oil is spread on them. Due to this method, our
noodles are slightly firm in texture as well as flavorful, and savory,
making you chew-well and slower in our fast-paced life.
This is the main feature of our Yakisoba noodles.
In our association, we will provide residents and tourists with a map of
Yakisoba Shops and Cafes in and around Fujinomiya, in an attempt to have
you judge which yakisobanoodles is more flavorful, Fujinomiya or those
originating in Yokote city in Akita Prefecture. People in Yokote are also
trying to stimulate the city's economy by means of Yakisoba. This approach
will once again make residents realize the originality of Fujinomiya Yakisoba,
and not only the special noodles, but also the "nikukasu"(pork
lees )and "dashiko" (fish- flake).
We will become more and more active from now on.
