Yakisoba in Fujinomiya has been advertised in newspapers and on television, being in the spotlight everywhere. The citizens in Fujinomiya are trying to promote it.
What makes us take up Yakisoba? We interviewed Hidehiko Watanabe, President
of Fujinomiya Yakisoba Association.

What makes you take this initiative?

The City of Fujinomiya has launched a project initiated by the Yakisoba Association
to encourage Fujinomiya's residents and tourists to try the specialty and understand the unique characteristic of our Yakisoba noodles.
Firstly, the members of the association became "G-men" ("men" is Japanese for noodles) and tried all the various Yakisoba shops in and around Fujinomiya.
If you are interested in learning more a homepage ( ) is accessible along with a map of great location to visit.

Can you tell me why you organized the Yakisoba Association?
The participants in a workshop planned by the city authorities and the Chamber of
Commerce and Industry organized an association to stimulate the economy in the
center city area. We thought up ways to arouse excitement in the city, where people can walk around enjoying the sights, sounds and tastes of Fujinomiya. We found out that Fujinomiya Yakisoba would help us do so.

I hear there were many immediate reactions among the citizens.
This project became the topic of discussion among the people, which
in turn gave way to a "mass media frenzy"

What's the goal of the Yakisoba Association in the future?
We will talk with the owners of Yakisoba shops, send information about our specialty around the world while the city concentrates on educating residents.
The plan is to create a cooking contest or yakisoba festival in the future.

Yakisoba Fans, we invite you to work together. Join us to make Yakisoba a success. The Yakisoba Association is in "happy harmony" at the meetings.
While sitting and eating yakisoba, we strategically plan ways to stimulate the Yakisoba industry.
